A little about me


My name is Yahia Bakour. I’m currently a Seattle based Software Engineer @ Amazon after graduating from Boston University with a Computer Engineering degree.  I was born in Georgia, USA but I grew up in the Middle East Mena Region for most of my life before coming back to the US. I enjoy solving puzzles, designing creative solutions, and binge watching Netflix.

Parallelizing Multiscale Edge Detection

Parallelized Multiscale Edge Detection code in C++ using openACC, openMPI, and FFT Convolutions. Gained almost 20x speedup with GPU powered image edge detection. Github Link

Treap vs Scapegoat Trees

A study of advanced data structures featuring Scapegoat Trees and Randomized binary search trees, this includes the implementation of libraries for both trees and a performance review using a US Zipcode DB Github Link

SensorUI

A web application built using Flask and hosted on Google Cloud that allows users to sign in and view data from temperature and humidity “sensors” in different saved locations. Github Link
